Chamonix is a real mountain resort, if you are powder like us, make the most of what Chamonix has to offer by hiring a guide for the day who can show you all the best places. The Vallée Blanche is deservedly well known, but there are lots of other fabulous off-piste runs in Chamonix to discover. Here are a few of our favourite things to do whilst in Chamonix...

Les Vieilles Luges lesvieillesluges.com You'll find this old 18th century barn off the piste at 1,200m, near the base station of the Maisonneuve chairlift. With incredibly friendly staff, this family restaurant offers fantastic food and atmosphere.

Taster: Hearty Savoyarde food. No card payments.

Plan Joran planjoran-restaurant.com. A mid-mountain restaurant near the Tabé chairlift station. Lunch here is rather pricey, but an experience and well worth it.

Taster: Classic Savoyarde dishes.

Maison Carrier hameaualbert.fr Gourmet restaurant, with a modern spin on the food.

Taster: Fois Gras, Filet de boeuf.

Bistrot lebistrotchamonix.com This Michelin-starred restaurant in the Hotel Morgane and is more chic and modern style compared to the chalet rustic feel.

Taster: Hereford beef, Quercy lamb

While there are bars at the base of each of the different ski areas where you can enjoy an early après beer in the sun, most of the action takes place in town.

Chambre Neuf is one of the liveliest and most popular apres ski bars. Based in the centre of town, there are live bands and table dancing most nights, and a DJ until 1am.

Elevation 1904 is a slightly more chilled out atmosphere, with great atmosphere and cocktails.

Rachel Kerr– the infamous cool lady of the mountain

Dave Cummings – guaranteed to get the best powder skiing with this guy, he’s got all the knowledge!
